Terrorism at large had been an ethereal ghost stalking this nation for some time. Now it has become a more formal reality and perhaps the most dominating subject in our media and in our daily lives while Americans attempt to sort out their own individual feelings about the subject. Questions concerning guilt and innocence, hoax and real threat, life and death, evil vs good,and fear vs bravery pop up at local stores like mine everyday. Domestic and foreign terrorism is part of America.

Many people forget the details of our own history of terrorism. During the Colonial Revolution we used terrorism against the British. During the Civil War, terrorism was used by both the North and the South (Sherman's March to the Sea), during the settlement of this country terrorism was used to push native Americans off fertile land (the use of smallpox infected blankets) and during the 1980's,1990's anti-abortionists, racist hate groups, teenage suicide gunmen, and American militants have used guns, bombs, arson, and the postal service to terrorize individuals, races, churches, and organizations. Buck up America, our ancestors were tougher than us, they bought us the freedoms we have today. It seems convienently odd that we forget about the local loons. Perhaps it's much easier to point at the turban wearing, long bearded swarthy villain and say lets go kick some foreign ass. Ahem, we should amend that to say lets go kick some terrorist ass wherever or whatever they might be.There is much ass kicking to be done. Let's start at home. Kick fear in the ass. Fear is for those who heed the words and the goals of the enemy, "we want you to be afraid". Terrorists feed upon it like vultures at a morticians banquet. Don't let them feed on the lives that were lost on Sept. 11th. or in Kansas City, or at Columbine High School, or in an Olympic Stadium.

Don't give them a free lunch, live life have fun, spend more time with those you love, and try to get along better with those you don't. Eliminate extraneous stress through games and gaming. Take walks, go to the zoo, visit a museum anything but hiding out at home. Get rid of stress factors you don't need. Stop procrastinating. Do your work. Treat others better than you expect to be treated. Terrorism can only be defeated when fear and doubt are not the only things on everyones mind. Never forget our ancestors and their battles. Win these battles of the mind at home.
